3-star ATH Anthony Castonzo Discusses Commitment

Just recently Class of 2022 3-star ATH Anthony Costanzo committed to UNLV, he attends Palmer Ridge High School in Monument, CO. He is the second commit of the 2022 class that ranks 92nd in the country according to 247Sports. He held 5 total offers and is a talented player who can make a solid impact at UNLV.

He told me he knew he was ready to commit on the last day of his visit. He says it felt great to finally announce he was committed, and to know where he’d be playing so he can focus on his senior year. Something that stood out about the school to Castonzo was once he got on campus, the staff made the place feel like home.

He describes his relationship as “pretty close” with Safeties Coach Damon Magazu and the rest of the coaching staff, and how during his recruitment they would always keep in touch with him. Coach Magazu was with him throughout his official visit showing him the campus, facilities, and everything about UNLV.  Castonzo said he likes how a lot is new and how they made renovations to the facilities.

Castonzo is a player who is versatile and aggressive and will only get better. He tells me he models his game off of Kam Chancellor’s aggressiveness & physicality, Jalen Ramsey’s coverage. Castonzo should fit in well at UNLV, as their defensive schemes allow him to be able to roam around as a true free safety. The coaches told him he could end up lining up anywhere whether it be in the secondary, the box, or on the edge. Castonzo is ready to play in the tough Mountain West and will do everything he can to help UNLV win more.

This upcoming senior season he is poised for a breakout year with Palmer Ridge and compete for a state championship. I believe he has the ability to make a big impact for UNLV when the time comes.
